About Us

Our mission is to connect families to supportive and culturally competent providers and professionals of color to help them thrive during pregnancy and into parenthood.

The Bridge is not just a directory and a resource for families of color, but a community of professionals, who seek to heal the disparities in health and care from the inside.

Our members are:

  • Childbirth educators
  • Chiropractors
  • Doulas
  • Lactation consultants
  • Massage therapists
  • Mental health therapists
  • Midwives
  • Obstetricians
  • Pediatricians
  • And more

We want to center the lifelines in our community—as our ancestors once did. We do that through getting to know each other, sharing wisdom, and remembering. We believe we have the solutions our clients, patients, and families seek, and we can get so much further when we move as one.

    Model of Care

Our model of care embodies a holistic approach that prioritizes the well-being and dignity of every individual within our community. It is not enough to be a BIPOC provider in a system that was never created for us, so we have created our own model and standards of care to represent the changes we want to see.

Our model centers around the concept of eldership, recognizing the wisdom and experience of our community nominated elders and integrating their guidance heir guidance and accountability into the care process.

    Our Founders

As birthworkers and mothers of color, we experienced first hand the limited lack of resources and information available online and we believe The Bridge Directory is that solution.

    Advised by Our Elders

The Bridge Directory seeks wisdom, accountability, and guidance from our council of community-nominated elders. Our elders not only lead our community, they serve in an advisory capacity in support of our common goal and mission.
