About the Provider
I am a birth and postpartum doula trained through Birthing Gently (DONA), mentored by Tanya Wills, CNM, IBCLC at Manhattan Birth and Certified Lactation Counselor (Healthy Children Project). I believe that all women deserve to have the birthing experience they desire in an environment where they feel safe and supported because birth is sacred and transformative. Nurturing, educating and uplifting a new mother during such a transformational event is essential to my work as a doula.
Birth has been an important part of my life since the birth of my younger brother who was born at home when I was 3. Even at this young age, I recognized the importance of having a strong support system rallying around the mother during labor, delivery and nourishing the new family during the postpartum period. Nourishing the mother with loving support from pregnancy through postpartum is something I greatly cherish. This became even more apparent after my own empowering birth experience, having given birth at home with doulas and midwives. I bring traditional practices from my Indian heritage and holistic practices into this work including Comforting Touch, breath work, acupressure, stretches, guided meditation, plant medicine, aromatherapy and holistic nutrition.
I did not imagine I would end up here in birth and postpartum work but I am truly in alignment. I started with my B.S. in Magazine Journalism working at various publications, start-ups and eventually finding my way to nutrition school to study holistic nutrition and wellness. This gave birth to my first book, a cookbook, Yogi Eats. I believe that nourishment can be delicious and enjoyable and is pivotal to overall being especially for new families. I am currently pursuing my masters in Infant + Maternal Nutrition with a focus on a holistic approach to pregnancy, postpartum and infant/toddler feeding.
