I am a Black birth doula certified through DONA International, who supports birthing people in the northern New Jersey area. I am passionate about positive birth experiences and supporting people of color as they journey through delivery. As a birth doula, I understand that each room I enter will be different when I leave because another stamp on this world will be made. It is that understanding that helps me to appreciate and respect the experience of childbirth.

Becoming a birth doula was inevitable for me. I often ask myself “Why didn't I do this sooner?!” I realized that I needed a catalyst. My 4yr old daughter is just that- she is the reason my passion runs so deep. My pregnancy with her lasted 28 weeks, 14 of which I spent on strict and complete hospital bedrest. When she entered the world urgently at a staggering 1lb 15oz, she required the expertise of a very capable Neonatal Intensive Care Team. After 124 days, I was finally able to take my baby home.

This experience changed my awareness on maternal health, racial disparities in healthcare for people of color, and birth support. My goal is to support as many birthing people as possible, to amplify the voices that are not heard. Empowering birthing people in a way that helps them speak up for themselves has become my top priority. I believe that childbirth is a transformative experience.

As a member of the birth team, I believe it is my duty to use my training and education to get birthing people to birth. I use my hands just as much as I use my heart when I support families.
