About the Provider

Hi! I'm Lené. I'm a Black & Native Holistic Doula residing in Queens. I have a B.A. in Psychology & a Doctorate in life. From the age of 9, I have been in the postpartum realm. Then when I was 14, birth called to me. But my purpose wasn't born until I turned 28. At the time, I was in a Medical Anthropology course in college. For homework, we had to watch the documentary "The Business of Being Born". Right in the middle of it, a light bulb went off. I knew I had to be a Midwife. However, I was instructed to become a Doula first. And here I am.
I support the reproductive spectrum from fertility to postpartum. I always remember how my teen years were of me learning on my own about the changes my cycle were taking me through. I felt like I wasn't thoroughly prepared & that feeling is why I offer services to prevent pregnancy as well as pregnancy. Included in postpartum work, I offer babysitting services. It provides a smooth transition for the parents since they already trust me & I've built a bond with the baby. The way in which I practice makes it appoint to help the parent(s) understand that their child has an integral role but it's unfortunately not talked about.
As I continue on my journey, I know my passion for reproductive & sexual health is only the beginning. I'm following in the steps of my 2x great grandmother who was a Maternal & Infant Nurse in the Marcus Garvey Movement. With the climate the way it currently is, I know her influence is ever present. I always tell my clients, I'll protect you by any means necessary. If the lioness comes out of her cage, she can't be put back. My goal is to keep birth sacred. And I stand firmly behind my convictions.
